README.mdMNWinn/careerops

CareerOps is an Apache-2.0-licensed, local-first, US-only job-search toolkit. It keeps versioned profiles, evidence cards, job snapshots, match explanations, review packets, and limited Greenhouse form-review artifacts in an explicitly chosen local workspace backed by Node's built-in node:sqlite—not in this repository and not in a cloud database.

Safety boundary: CareerOps never collects employer credentials, sends telemetry, automates a browser login, bypasses CAPTCHA/MFA, runs arbitrary connector code, or calls a private/provider-arbitrary endpoint. It can inspect Greenhouse's public application schema and freeze a local, consent-bound manifest. It does not send a Greenhouse application: the documented Greenhouse POST requires an employer-owned Job Board API key, which CareerOps deliberately does not accept or use. Optional USAJOBS discovery uses a user-owned API key only as a transient runtime request header selected by the fixed local CAREEROPS_USAJOBS_API_KEY and CAREEROPS_USAJOBS_EMAIL environment-variable names; CareerOps never accepts a value or arbitrary environment reference on argv, stores it, logs it, or places it in a URL.
