Works with any agent
ships AGENTS.md, the cross-tool instruction file.
In its own words
A portable project memory for Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work folders.
The folder remembers active work, decisions, confirmed corrections, useful sources, and project-specific preferences in plain Markdown. You can read it, edit it, back it up, move it between tools, and see exactly what the assistant believes about the project.
What You Get
- A small hot-memory file for the context that matters now.
- Dated session logs for history that should stay searchable without loading on every task.
- Separate ledgers for decisions, confirmed corrections, reusable lessons, and source authority.
- One tool-neutral contract in
AGENTS.mdand paste-ready instructions for Claude Cowork and ChatGPT. - A standard-library Python helper for health checks, text search, safe snapshots, and hosted-project exports.
- A working Markdown-only path when Python, Git, scheduled tasks, or built-in product memory aren't available.
The local files are authoritative. Claude and ChatGPT's built-in memory can help recall, but it never replaces the folder record.
Supported Modes
Official product behavior changes over time. As of August 18, 2026, Claude Cowork projects support local folders, instructions, project-scoped memory, and scheduled tasks. ChatGPT Work can use local folders in the desktop app, while ChatGPT Projects keep uploaded files, project instructions, chats, and project memory together.
