ORCHESTRA is the operating system for AI-assisted software engineering. It is a model-agnostic system that coordinates a Business Owner, Planner / Expert, and repository-capable Coding Agent through shared project truth, governance, workflow, validation, and handoff.

Before you start

You need a supported Python 3.10+ installation, a Planner / Expert model, a repository-capable Coding Agent, and either an existing project or a new empty project directory.

Step 1: Install ORCHESTRA once on this machine

ORCHESTRA is a private machine-level tool, not a dependency of each project. It is currently distributed as a private package artifact, not through a public package registry or an automatic download command. Obtain the approved wheel from the ORCHESTRA release owner or your organization's private artifact store, save it locally, then install it into one dedicated user environment:

The symlink makes the command available from any project without activating the ORCHESTRA environment. Ensure ~/.local/bin is on your user PATH; on macOS with zsh, add export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH" to ~/.zprofile once if it is not already present, then open a new terminal.
